Is a First Look worth it?

The ceremonial act symbolises the beginning of a new life. It ties two hearts into a single heartbeat and deserves to be celebrated wholeheartedly. There are many customs associated with weddings. Amongst these beautiful customs, there is one trend that has been on the rise in modern times – the First Look.

It is that magical moment where the bride and the groom see each other for the first time in a private setting before the wedding. It provides you with the flexibility to be calm and comfortable on your special day and to create timeless memories together. The surreal feelings associated with this special heart-to-heart moment are phenomenal!

Unlike traditional weddings, where couples wait until proper wedding celebrations to start with each other, the trend of the first look is becoming more and more popular in today’s modern and sophisticated weddings. I have been capturing special wedding moments for years now but this specific and utterly enchanting act always leaves me awe-struck!

Many reasons make the first look totally worth it; these include:

Pros of First Look

The most memorable moment of your entire life!

Let’s be real over here. You have been dreaming about getting married to your favourite person for months or maybe years and now this exceptional moment, this special occasion is lying in front of you. Imagine the sentiments attached with seeing the love of your life all dressed up in a beautiful flared pearl-white gown or a jet-black tuxedo ready to spend your entire life with you. How does that sound? It surely sounds affectionate and romantic but I assure you the experience is far beyond ethereal romance. A feeling you cannot even describe in words.

Helps Calm Down The Nerves

Now, this is a major reason!

Your wedding day has a fair share of romantic vibes, nervousness, and excitement. Let me assure you that it is totally normal to feel an outburst of feelings! Seeing your fiancé sometime before the actual celebrations begin helps to soothe your mind and calm the nerves.

I highly recommend this to couples. It really helps them to get comfortable on the wedding day.

AMAZING Photographs

Being a wedding photographer I love capturing adorable moments of my couples. All the excitement, the ethereal charm associated with getting married to the love of your life, and the surreal moment of saying “I do”. The first look not only proves to be the memorable time of your life but also provides wedding photographers with an ample amount of time to take breathtaking portraits. This also provides the photographers to be creative, thus shooting more relaxed and comfortable couple photos.

Cons of First Look

There are no particular cons associated with implementing the first look in your wedding. In fact, it is highly recommended for a smooth wedding day function. Although, you might need to get up early a little bit to dress up, get the hair and makeup done for photographs. But I am sure, this will prove to be one of the most amazing, surreal, and memorable moments of your life! If you think that you won’t be as much excited to see your love at the ceremony, you couldn’t be more wrong! I have seen couples burst into happy tears both during first looks and at the ceremony.

The bottom line, this gives couples the perfect opportunity to see each other all dressed up in a comfortable, private setting, cry and laugh together, and see eye-to-eye and heart-to-heart with each other. Time and again my clients have thanked me for convincing them to opt for the first look. Let me know what you think about this?
